Positive: The house itself was great and the location perfect for what we wanted but...

Negative: We were informed of the need to pay a 500 euro deposit to the management company when we were on our way to the property. The on-line payment system did not work (and we got the feeling we were not the first people to experience this problem) so we were given a 1hr window at the end of a 7hr drive to get to the management office in the centre of Clermont Ferrand. That resulted in a very stressful trip through a busy city centre with no easy parking and a deadline to meet. We were then told we would have to leave the deposit in cash or we would not be given access to the property. That pretty much cleared out the cash we had. The staff informed us we had to provide a video showing that the property was left in a reasonable condition on our departure or we would not get the deposit back. That made us unbelievably nervous about using the facilities at the property and meant we felt like we had to record absolutely everything on our arrival so that we did not find ourselves being accused of damaging anything during our stay. It is difficult to imagine a less flexible, trusting or welcoming start to a holiday.
