Summary: excellent find! Their restaurant is michelin starred and although we were unable top have dinner there, the breakfast the next morning was better than any I had ever eaten. Pastries were freshly baked,; juice was freshly squeezed and coffee was individually brewed The meat almost tempted me to give up being a vegetarian.

Summary: Hotel was modern and clean and classy, with an en-suite room like I've never seen before. I just had to use the deep tub for a bath and then a shower in a shower that could easily fit 3 people at the same time. The food was the reason I went there having read the other reviews, and I'm so glad I did, 9 courses for the price of 5 and still for 69.5 Euro. Each dish a work of art. I'll be staying there again. If you can't stretch to the room price, there looked like a cheaper hotel across the car parking area, but make sure you eat at Hotel Haut Allier.
It's off the beaten track but that makes it special. Finding it is easy now I know where it is; it's where the railway crosses the road. And dress up a bit for the restaurant - show respect for the chef.

Summary: The hotel was booked as a convenient stopping place but what a surprise. The location, off the beaten track, is stunning overlooking the gorge however the real surprise was the evening meal. I thought it looked expensive but it was a real treat. Not great if traveling with children or fussy eaters but the dinner was most excellent. on returning home I discover that this is not any chef but a michelin star chef. My husband and I thought what we got (9 courses) was really good value and had we been in a British city would have cost us at least twice the amount.
The room (junior suit) was good, clean, comfortable and newly decorated.
